This week, I focused on completing and integrating the memory and bus foundation for our PC/XT FPGA system. I implemented the RAM, BIOS ROM, address decoder, memory controller, and video RAM, and also worked on the CPU interface to support wait states, back-to-back transactions, correct write behavior, and reset handling. I added the initial peripheral routing for the keyboard, display, PIC, timer, and storage interface, along with a simulated disk-to-RAM path. I also updated the architecture and interface documentation and added verification for the new modules. All five RTL testbenches and seven Python tests passed, and we were able to verify that Joshua’s CPU could fetch from the reset address, write a word to RAM, and read it back correctly. My progress is on schedule, and next I plan to move toward the physical peripheral implementations, actual SD-card transport, BIOS boot integration, and FPGA bring-up.
