Progress

In week 5, two things have been unfolded in parallel.

For the design document, I started the design document in laTeX following IEEE format. Edited the format and template and contents hierarchy in the way that aligns with the course requirement. Drafted an abstract and introduction for the entire document to capture and summarize the project’s goals and objectives. I have started working on some of the later parts of this design document.

For hardware implementation, all the developments were done in the lab. I was successful in reproducing the TV Jammer circuit on Arduino. In addition, I also had a successful attempt in migrating the IR circuit onto a Raspberry Pi by following this tutorial post: http://www.raspberry-pi-geek.com/Archive/2015/10/Raspberry-Pi-IR-remote. Our circuit is now capable of sending IR command signals to a Nikon camera to control its shutter. Some initial debugging for MOSFET has been done with an Oscilloscope. In addition, we had success in programming the RPi and its GPIO pins. Meanwhile, I have started capturing the hardware schematics of all parts in Eagle CAD tool.

Schedule

According to Gantt chart, I am still on schedule prior to this week.

On Saturday Morning, Sep 28, we held the weekly sync-up meeting to refine requirements and finishing laying out the TODOs with the entire team. Here’s the meeting agenda:

1. Design Document
  • Finish Schematic Design
  • Finish CV Architecture + Streaming (+Diagram)
  • IR Signal Decoupling Requirements in SW & HW
  • Discuss Mechanical Design + ID
  • Go Over Testing + Metrics: “Defense in fine details”
  • Listing out all the TODOs in the design Documents
2. Design Presentation
  • Finish presentation slides
  • Tie loose ends together
3. Status Report on WordPress
  • Introducing how to access our site
  • Weekly status report and other TODOs
4. Implementation Sync-up
  • Look at Gantt Chart for this (go thru changes in Gantt Chart)
  • Finalize the list of devices to be tested on

Deliverables Next Week

1. Continue Drawing the Schematics for all hardware/electrical components

  • Finish Schematic for RPi, IR, Motors and Servo
  • Continue working on the ID / Mechanical Design
  • Continue refining the IR circuit and load other IR codes to be tested
  • Receive Easy Driver Parts and evaluate hardware + programming driver
