Team Status Report for 4/24

This week, our team was able to meet in person a few times at Tech Spark as well as off-campus to prototype the control tower, solder components, and get near-final footage of the hotpot with the Jetson Nano.

Currently, the biggest risk to our project is not having enough time to integrate, which will require a lot of team time where we can all have hands-on access to each of our individual parts. To get the most out of our integration time, we made sure to plan out our signals and state transitions beforehand so we can have a clear path to follow. Another risk we discovered during our last hot pot meeting was that there is considerable lag from processing our frames through our CV algorithm. To ensure that our algorithm is fast enough, we will be using CUDA as well as dropping every other frame from our stream, since a high framerate is not needed for our application.

We had a minor plan change to laser cut the control tower instead of 3d printing it in the interest of time and budget, which allowed us to move ahead in prototyping last week. Going forward, we will be meeting in person frequently to finish our project.
