Andrei’s Status Report Apr 4th

We completed the interim demo and I had some small problems during the first demo but was able to fix them during the rest of the demos and those went very well. I am now in the trenches working on booth but once that is completed I will be able to return to completing the integration of ai and game model with the RFID and the Auto card dealer.

Andrei Da Silva’s Status Report Mar 28th

This week I spent a lot of time working at TechSpark, where I worked on understanding the Raspberry Pi and how to connect it with the RFID, and working on using the playing cards with the RFID to give the central controller knowledge of the players’ cards to be able to run the game.

I had an issue with the Raspberry Pi that was given to me, which had an issue with the SD card reader, which heavily slowed down my progress this week.

The goal is to hopefully integrate the RFID code with the AI code this coming week, right before booth keeps us awake for days on end.

I have also been trying to dismantle the auto card dealer with no real progress, so I believe I will be pivoting to a different solution, which would require me take apart the start and stop buttons and connect those to the raspberry pi and that will be my goal in the next couple of days.

The largest update is that there may need ot be some rethinking about what to do about the autodealer at the moment. Since we do not know if it will work with our current goals at the moment. I might have to make my own dealer and purchase the pieces.

In addition, I received the RFID equipment and buttons, and will need to test them out this coming week. Also we will begin gathering materials for the table to begin fitting everything in for the demo.

Andrei’s Status Report March 14

After returning from spring break, I completed the ethics assignment, which took well over a day. It was much longer than expected, especially since I have strong feelings about several of these topics, and I felt the need to express them.

I am still awaiting the RFID Readers and am excited to finally test them and implement them. I do feel that there is very little possibility for error or need for drastic change if it does not work as I am expecting them too. If anything, it is likely we would have to purchase a couple more readers to satisfy the use cases, but this will be decided once we have received the readers and tested them.

In addition, I have tested out the autodealer and have found it to work well with its own programming of Texas Hold ‘ Em. I now have to make a decision on whether to dismantle the power button so that it can turn on the dealer when one turns on the entire table.  This will be a little design change, and the decision will be made by Monday this week.

Andrei’s March 7th Status Report

I have begun disassembling the autodealer to be able to control the dealing speed and actions based on the commands written by the raspberry pi. I have also looked into materials for the table. I need to decide whether to add the felt piece or not depending on the friction of the table.  We worked and the design report which helped fill in the gaps that we had in our description of the product. This design report helped me zone out exactly the necessary products based on our needs. This also  includes the implementation and the way to go about creating the product.

After completing the design presenatation I finally recieived the auto card dealer and was able to test its basic functionalities. It works very well and has all the settings necessary that we could be using. I now have to dismantle it to see if I can slow down the dealing and manually control the start and stop of the dealer. This will be my goal for this coming week. In addition I am still attemtping to understand and figure out what rfid i will be using for the chips and cards at the moment. I will be speaking with Theo on monday to complete this sidequest. We will then complete the design report by friday before spring break.

Andrei worked on collecting knowledge on the rfid product classifications to make sure to purchase the correct types, In addition I am currently waiting to receive the autocard dealer to be able ot hack it to follow game mechaniccs. This coming week I will purchase the RFIDs to test them out and in addition I will be testing the auto card dealer capabilities.

Andrei’s Status Report for Feb 7th

After completing the proposal, I begun doing research on auto shufflers and auto dealers to be able to find out which parts are better off purchase and which parts should be made by hand instead. As of right now I am considering purchasing the entire auto dealer and shuffler and hacking it to work the way we want but I am still not 100% sure.
