Melodee’s Status Update for 3/21/2020
Progress
After settling from the craziness of the COVID-19 updates, I basically redid all of the Python simulation code that I had previously written (since we had changed our protocol/implementation so much). I finally got the firmware to be code complete, and it currently works if there is one master and one slave tile in the system. I’m still in the process of debugging cases with multiple slave tiles.
I also spent some time communicating with my team members, as well as Professor Mukherjee and Jiaqi, on how we will adjust our project given these new circumstances. As outlined in our Statement of Work, we decided that the embedded code will be unaffected (thankfully, given how many changes we’ve made so far). Another decision we made that’s relevant to me is that our tile enclosure construction will use a CNC machine rather than a laser cutter. Originally Aarohi and I were going to work on that, but now Eric will be working with me instead of Aarohi since we’ll be in the same physical location for the end of the summer.
Schedule
We made amends to the schedule, and given our new schedule, I am expected to finish the Python code within the next few days. After that, I am scheduled to get started on a C simulation of the tiles (for easier debugging when writing the actual C firmware later on).
Goals for next week
- Complete Python code
- Begin working on C simulation of tiles, time permitting
