This week, team B4 explored other options for 3D IMU positioning as Hana continued parallel work on the Processing simulation. On the 3D positioning side, Daniel looked into using Madgwick’s AHRS algorithm in order to determine IMU rotation and remove the earth’s gravity from 3D readings. Using this algorithm in combination with proposed HPF drift strategies, basic 3D representations of arm swings were finally achieved. Some images of this data are included below. Daniel shared these findings with Luca so he is now looking into Madgwick’s research on his own. Daniel also recently received his Particle Photon so he will soon be translating all his work onto that platform.

Hana was able to get some preliminary visualizations of the bird’s eye view and side view with dummy input data, but has had issues with the ball’s motion over the trajectory arc. For the coming week, she’ll be working on having all calculations/equations verified and working with generalized inputs, and to show seamless continuous motion along a curve for the ball’s trajectory.
