Midsemester

Beagleboard set up, but we had not yet received our Kinect so we are using a webcam to receive video input instead. We have also prototyped a cardboard vent for demo purposes.

Currently it detects red-colored blobs and tracks them, determines their coordinates, and sends those coordinates via serial to an Arduino that controls 2 servos connected to the vent. The servos control the vent's x- and y- directions.

Problems encountered: the servos, arduino, and beagleboard combined may have caused too high of a power drain. We also experienced long latency issues, as there was a significant delay between user input (user movement) and the system detecting/responding to that movement.
