Things accomplished this week
I worked more on the CAD design. It ended up taking longer than anticipated since there were nuances of CAD design i was unaware of. Creating the hinge to the correct specification basis back-of-th-napkin calculations was harder than I expected. However, having done and verified the dimensional calculations, I believe the print should turn out correctly. However, I have allotted time to re-configure and correct any mistakes.
A portion of my time went into doing the ethics assignment which required us to read the 2 articles, watch the video and answer questions related to the readings and our project. My group members and I met up to discuss Step 3 of the assignment and collectively discuss more specifications of our project, keeping the ethical ramifications of certain design decisions in mind.
I have worked on the sqlite database further to add more functionality. I created more functions and unit tested it. Added more functionality to the RDS database also but still figuring out details since it requires more configuration than sqlite
I created another section of my CAD model which whill help the Raspberry Pi case hang off the wall if needed. It is a movable ball and socket joint that will help set up the camera. Im 50% through the design for this and need to make certain design decisions, such as the length of the bar, in order to maximise the customization.
Has your progress been on schedule
Yes, it has been on schedule. I have finished the CAD designs as intended and will be working on the integration of the database over the weekend. My teammates and I had a meeting to discuss interfaces further, that gave me more ideas regarding the UI i’d like to implement.
Aim for next week
– Finish Database Integration
– Finish CAD design 2
– Start CAD design 3
– Start playing around with UI features to get comfortable with the implementation
