Magnetoresistive Lab Set-up

HH A104

Overview:

Operating Instructions Summary

Users Manual

This equipment is intended to allow students who are unfamiliar with magnetoresistance to quickly and simply gain insight into this phenomenon. This set-up consists of a GMR wand and and inductive wand along with a custom-built signal switching box. The GMR wand responds to fields based on its Giant Magnetoresistive property. With the signal switching box, the sensitivity of this phenomenon to signal flux levels and to magnetic field biasing can be examined. The inductive wand is provided for comparison and allows the student to compare the GMR field sensor to the inductive method, with regard to velocity sensitivity and total output level. This set-up is used in conjunction with a function generator, a DC power supply and an oscilloscope.
