Currently, vocal coaches are expensive, ranging anywhere between $55-125 an hour. In addition to this, many existing vocal apps are technical and jargon-heavy. Utilizing both software and signal processing from our ECE curriculum, we aim to create a karaoke-inspired, gamified vocal coach web app targeted toward helping people improve their singing in real time. Our app will include scale and interval training exercises and a feature that allows users to input songs. We plan on implementing real-time pitch detection using pitch detection algorithms and with this data, provide visual feedback to the user.
