LIKHITHA CHINTAREDDY’S STATUS REPORT for 2/11

This week, I started doing research on the different UIs used by apps and also published papers and other work in the UI space on how to design for users who are looking at wait times. Some of the work I have found useful and applicable to our process, for example, are this article by the Nielsen’s internal research group  and this 2019 journal article published in Interacting with Computers on the effects of visual feedback on long wait times. I also studied how food delivery/pickup apps like DoorDash, UberEats, and Chipotle have UI that indicate wait times to their users.  This work helps inform my design process and helps with creating a better user experience. I am on schedule as I begin work on the Figma prototype which I hope to finish by the end of the week along with the set up of the app on Django.

I also took time out to study the YOLO algorithm as I intend to assist my teammate Chi on the backend side. This paper on how object tracking works using YOLO has been incredibly important in aiding my understanding of the algorithm.

Besides this, I have been meditating upon the insightful individual and team feedback I received about our proposal presentation from the faculty and TAs on my presentation and speaking skills.
