Team Status Update for 03/22
This week has been wild. A global pandemic hit and now capstone is remote. No one expected this, so the course staff also took some time to respond. This week has been us trying to adjust to our new reality. We spent our meetings discussing how to proceed in the class. In terms of our project, we will have to rescope. In terms of meeting times, we settled on keeping the same time, since Claire and Maxine would be in Asia with a 12 hour difference and 10:30PM is still workable.
We decided, for now, to keep Resisthor (at its core) the same. We will be continuing with the software portions as they were and moving all the hardware to simulation tools. We did some testing and, currently, we are planning on proceeding with Fusion 360. We have produced a statement of work that outlines what has and has not been affected by COVID-19 and the new requirements and testing that come with these changes.
Claire has relocated to Taiwan. She tested out SolidWorks from Taiwan. Since she has a Mac, she had to use Virtual Andrew and the latency was significant from the other side of the world. She also tested out Fusion 360 and found that since it ran locally, the experience was much smoother.
Maxine is preparing to relocate to Hong Kong. She also tested out SolidWorks (while in Pittsburgh), with much more success, but unfortunately due to GPU incompatibilities, she was unable to use the Repair Sketch feature, which posed some issues.
Arka will be remaining in Pittsburgh for a while. He worked primarily on the statement of work.
