Introduction and Project Summary

Resisthor is an automated resistor sorting machine. At the end of lab, resistors are usually pulled from the breadboard and thrown away. We set out to create Resisthor to sort and reuse resistors to encourage recycling and minimize environmental damage. Students can place their breadboard on Resisthor, and Resisthor will use computer vision to detect the position of each resistor and classify them by their colour bands. With a robotic claw, it will pick up the resistor from the breadboard and sort them into a corresponding bin. There will also be a screen to display the values of the sorted resistors and the estimated time left to sort each board.
