Vanessa’s Status 4/13

Vanessa’s Status 4/13

This week we had our last reading assignment and discussion on Monday. It was interesting to learn about realization and production phases with real examples.

I found a software that can replace Garageband which is Ableton Live. Although it is not a free software, I was able to try using it through 30-days free trial. Unfortunately, it cannot detect the bpm of the recorded performance (which I hope we could do without making calculations from raspberry pi), but I can still extract MIDI files without further conversion. While exploring several built-in functions of our MIDI keyboard, I found out that it was transposing itself by half a key, which has been one of our biggest problems. So now it outputs MIDI files in correct keys. Besides,  Surbhi and I found out that bpm of the LED matrix is not affected by the number of notes of a piece; thus, we decided to manually examine bpm for each speed mode that Surbhi defined. We talked about this to the professor, and he agreed that this may be the best option. We have done examining them so now we have five speed modes available.

I am currently on schedule, and I’ll work on expanding my performance score evaluator for single hand performances.
