This week I worked on ordering parts for the final prototype of the load sensor, as well as critical RFID components (tags, reader, and raspberry pi control module). Due to Spring Break, there is a bit of a reduced timescale this week, I, as well as my groupmates, will be unavailable starting either Thursday or Friday.
Regarding my deliverables from last week, I was unable to determine a final resolution measurement in # of sheets for the TP sensor, as I needed bolts and standoffs that I have only just ordered. I was, however, able to decide on a sensor fall-back fro the TP sensor, a mechanical sensor in the style of a “wheel-of-fortune” wheel. This sensor would be a switch, tripped by a protruding piece on the inside of the TP roll, and would trip the switch once per rotation. This increase the sensor diversity of the project, as well as the measurement diversity, bringing the measurements up to 3: the before/after weight of the roll, the force pulling on the roll, and the rotations.
Next week I am away, so I do not have any deliverables.
The following week, I hope to:
- Finish prototyping the TP Weight Sensor
- Finalize the design for the TP rotation sensor
- Prototype the door latch sensor
- Assist James in setting up the Raspberry Pi w/ the RFID reader.
