Welcome to our blog about Smart Chess Board! We are building a chess board that aims to educate new chess players, and also allows for players to play with each other from far away.
It lights up to show legal and illegal moves, which is done by setting having lights and sensors under a transparent chess board. We plan to integrate a chess engine like stockfish, so that players can play against an AI on the board as well. The last part of the project will be to connect the board to the internet, so that while one player is playing on the physical board, a friend can play with them remotely on a web/phone app.
A stretch goal of this project is to create two boards so that two players can play with each other on two separate physical boards.
