This week Serena and I worked extensively to get cuda working with Tamal’s help. We tried many things from flashing Jetpack5 on the Xavier to flashing Jetpack 4.6.1 on the Jetson Nano but could not get a working pytorch with cuda available combined with a working pyrealsense2. Our plan for next week is to get our software pipeline working with cuda on the Xavier with Jetpack 5. We couldn’t get this to work before because we tried to roll back to Python 3.7 since we thought that pyrealsense2 was only compatible with 3.7, but after rolling back we could not get cuda to be available. Since then, we have done research and found that it is possible to get pyrealsense2 working with Ubuntu 20/Python 3.8 which comes with Jetpack 5 (https://github.com/IntelRealSense/librealsense/issues/7366). Tomorrow, we will reflash the Jetpack 5 and see if we can successfully build pyrealsense2.

I am behind schedule because we faced a lot of setbacks with flashing Jetsons and installing libraries. Next week I hope to get the software pipeline back to its original state with cuda, test distance readings, and write the rest of the software logic for obstacle avoidance.
