According to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, Americans take more than 1 billion trips in cars per day. Driving has become an integral part of our culture, and yet there is minimal work being done to revolutionize existing vehicular infrastructure. We intend to implement an improved version of a traffic light system that observes and analyzes live traffic patterns in busy city environments. Using data from cameras and traffic APIs, our traffic light system will reduce vehicle (and potentially pedestrian) wait times by optimizing light intervals.
