Nature photography is a challenging task for multiple reasons. Animals are often frightened by human photographers and avoid them. Furthermore, it can take hours of waiting for an interesting animal to enter the area, making the process mundane and time-consuming. After the photos are collected, more hours are spent editing pictures. Overall, this process is human-capital intensive. Our goal is to produce an automatic nature photography system, which can shoot and edit animal photographs without human assistance. We will develop a stationary robot that can rotate to search for animals. The robot will be able to photograph these animals and edit the photos immediately after shooting. All nature photography robots we found in our research are currently remote-controlled, and none have automated editing. We believe that this automated system will provide an important improvement to the efficiency of nature photography.
