Remigotchi is a engaging, distraction free device designed to help college students take care of their health by providing a virtual pet to take care of and maintain.
The Remigotchi functions by connecting to a schedule created in a companion app that provides times and actions to take at those times. These actions can range from reminders to take important medications to basic reminders to drink water and take a walk. Properly recording actions causes the pet to thrive, giving users a sense of accomplishment and motivating them to continue taking healthy actions. On the other hand, neglecting to take action causes harm to the virtual pet, which will hopefully also provide motivation.
The Remigotchi device itself will be small enough to be either placed in a pocket or attached to a backpack or other tote. It will only have a few easy to use buttons in conjunction with a screen, allowing for ease of use in taking care of the virtual pet, as well as low overall power consumption allowing for regular use throughout an average user’s day. This simplicity in the device also contributes to it being a distraction free alternative compared to a phone for a reminder system. Often checking a phone can lead to doom-scrolling and general wasting of time, both of which are near impossible on a Remigotchi allowing users to better use their time.
