Devank Status Report for Feb 18th

This week I designed modeling the frame. We did the math for how high the camera and projector need to be placed from the pool table for optimal image capturing and projection (the height is about 4 feet from the pool table’s surface). Knowing this,

Like Jimmy, I too fell mildly sick on Wednesday and thus haven’t been able to work to full capacity. I started on modelling the what the frame for the camera and the projector system would look like. It shall be 4 feet above the pool table so as to not obstruct player space. Also came up with a few heuristics to decide optimal pool shot. Next action items include ordering parts for the frame (we were thinking home depot to speed up process), and finish the frame by the end of next week.

Currently the most significant risk that we face is a delay in getting the parts for us to use. These are being managed by us making back up plans in case we don’t get the parts. There have been no changes yet to the existing

This week I was unfortunately sick for the first half of the week so I wasn’t able to work then. After I was able to work with my team on ordering parts for our projects. I also started planning how to build the frame that

This week I did our Proposal Presentation. In preparation for this I also did research on what the required specs for our camera and projector would be. I also did research on possible sensors for our pool cue. After the presentation, . When the order form opened, I also submitted forms to buy several of the needed components such as the pool table and some of the sensors. Our project is slightly behind as we had to wait for the ordering form to open, as I could not make much progress without the components. I will be putting in extra hours once the parts arrive to make up for this. Next week I hope to complete the setup for the Arduinos, so data can be sent to and from the table/cue to the laptop.

We are building a real-time 8-ball pool helper with an attached Augmented Reality system and a smart cue stick. A camera attached to a frame above the table will be capturing the game state at any given moment, using Computer Vision and an in-house algorithm
