Tyler’s Status Report 3/6

I spent this week finalizing the review design presentation slides for our group. I focused mainly on the Application Area, Solution Approach, and Implementation Plan slides, while also helping out in large part with the Bill of Materials. In addition, I helped Tom with the Risk Factors and Mitigation slide and came up with the idea of using a laser to keep track of the position of the cup.

This week I worked on designing the software layer of the project (interaction between the application and user) as well as going through all specific parts required for the ordering of the project and finalized our master ordering list.

I also updated our Gantt chart for the project to make sure the project management section of our slides (design presentation) was up to date.

Team Status Report for 3/6

At this point in our project, out most significant risk is parts we want to order being out of stock. We’ve been periodically monitoring how much of each part we want is left in stock and have several back-up options for many of our parts. We’re also prepared to slightly modify our design if needed to accommodate certain parts being out of stock.

Thomas’ Status Report for 3/6

This week I worked on finalizing our design presentation slides. I constructed our system diagram and completed the testing, metrics and validation portions of our slideshow.

I also assisted in the creation of our BOM. After doing some research, I proposed we use peristaltic pumps to most easily keep track of the amount of liquid dispensed. This is much faster and more flexible than using dispensers with preset quantities.

The peristaltic pumps we’re planning on ordering:

My progress is on time at this point in the design process. This upcoming week, I plan to complete and polish our design presentation slides. In addition, I’ll be working towards completing our Design Review Report and getting our parts ordered.
