Introduction

Trends in the market for vehicles point increasingly to the reliance of integrated technologies (such as backup cameras) to assist with transportation needs. To that extreme we have seen the desire to perform vehicle related tasks completely autonomously. To aid in this transition to autonomous transportation, we believe that it would be valuable to leverage technologies further to allow communication between vehicles. Ultimately, sharing between vehicles should allow for greater safety and more effective driving.

AutoVot aims to demonstrate the value of vehicle to vehicle (V2V) communication systems by developing a coordinated task with RC Cars through the use of a V2V communication Protocol. The task of choice is a convoy system where one car leads and the other follows closely behind. The task is deemed a success if both cars are able to navigate from the start to goal position in a reasonable time while avoiding any obstacles.
