Introduction and Project Summary

FocusEd assesses whether a driver is distracted while driving— falling asleep or looking at a phone. FocusEd consists of a camera set-up that will scan the position of the driver’s head and check whether their eyes are open or closed. If it is determined that the driver is indeed distracted,  the driver will be alerted by an audio signal so as to correct their behavior to avoid an accident. This project intends to be a solution that will help keep roadways safer as accidents due to distracted driving have increased over recent years.
