Controllers

The laser cut pieces and hardware arrived this week so I was able to start building the controllers. Everything fits together surprisingly well for a first try.

Here’s the pieces “dry-fitted” together with no hardware and no buttons:

I still have to finish wiring and soldering the controllers for them to be fully functional, but it looks like there won’t have to be a version 2. So far, I’ve soldered all the high-sides of each switch together and cut my perfboard for the connector:

Professor Nace was kind enough to loan me a soldering iron with a new tip, and Quinn ordered me some new tips from Amazon as well, so I was finally able to make substantial progress on soldering. I assembled one of the middleman PCBs and tested it with the music module. Here’s a video of the music working:

Schedule

I’m on schedule with my revised Gantt chart from last week. My goal this week is to finish the controller wiring (pull-down resistors, wiring to 2×8 connector) and start testing with the game.
