Lizzy’s Status 5/4

This was our last week working on the project since it is due on Monday. It was mostly just putting a bunch of finishing touches on the project, and updating the gui to include a bunch of instruction screens to explain Ableton and what to do with the piano keys. Just finishing the project and fixing small bugs when it came up. Since it is the last week I also don’t have a plan for things to next week other…

I don’t really have a flashy update this week. The focus has really been to find when problems happen my code and then discover why they are a problem and fix them. Basically give the OMR a bunch of new music and see where problems come up. One song I was testing it on was Hedwig’s theme. There were a couple of problems with this, but mainly a problem with how I was handling connected notes and finding their duration…

Our team is still on schedule based on our updated schedule from the mid-semester demo. So far, no major risks have come up and major contingency plans haven’t been formed. In general, the risks are that something just becomes trickier or take longer than we expected so our schedule will be compensated and we will need to reevaluate needs at the time and how to adjust our schedule. No changes were needed to be made to the block diagram. Certain…

WOOOOOOO!!! This week was so exciting. I knew I was getting close to being pretty much done, at least with stuff for the final demo, and today I was able to give the OMR side a totally new song that I had never run it on before and it processed it almost flawlessly (no errors, one accent on the wrong note). It was a fairly complex song too with accents, eighth notes, rests, dots, etc. I cried. In general this…

This week I was working on a GUI interface for the client side of our project. Our team discussed what should be included here earlier this week and we decided on the path to the pdf, the song name (since I am not recognizing it), the speed (1-5), and whether to play with only treble, base, or both. I worked on making it pretty, and while it is not the most stunning UX, I think it comes across pretty nicely….

Well, not going to lie, this week I did nothing on the Captone itself. I got a concussion last Thursday and have been banned from looking at screens and electronics by the UHS doctor. I will be making up the work in the coming weeks as my other classes pair down. Even doing this status is going against the wishes of the doctor’s and is currently giving me a worse headache, but thought I should put it up quickly anyway.

This week I made progress on connecting all the pieces together and so that we could have one coherent project for the demo. I was able to use the objects I was building with OMR to make dictionaries that could make the final xml file. Then I was able to test my entire piece by uploading the final output XML into MuseScore and check the differences. With the easy piece, I was able to achieve 96% accuracy based on having…
