This week, we spent a lot of time working on our requirements, and, as a result, the vast majority of the time I spent on the project this week was joint with Lucas and can be found in our Team Status Report. Most of the feedback we received from both the proposal presentation and our meetings with course staff pertained to our goals not being technical enough. With that in mind, I took the data Lucas found from Johnny’s seeds and refined it into various goals. I pinpointed the relevant species, average various data, and proposed some metrics for specifically seed spread density and irrigation times, while Lucas provided some other metrics. The remainder of my week was spent preparing for the design presentation, which I will be giving next Monday or Wednesday. I have created the skeleton of the slideshow, added the metrics we determined in our meetings as well as my personal explanation of various slides, and left space for the system diagram that Lucas worked on. I also made a graphic explaining how I will use Django to implement the web interface for our device, which I will begin work on after the presentation is done. Finally, we have prepared our order for the manually-grown control groups, so I will begin raising plants as soon as the supplies arrive. Looking forward, I plan to work on the web app and collaborate with Lucas on the design paper next week.
