ASL Interpreter

The essential goal of our project was to create a system that can translate and interpret American Sign Language (ASL) into English text.  We plan to do this by tracking hand gestures and positioning via any device camera and using various data filtering and machine learning techniques to classify what hand-sign is being seen.  In order to make this system accessible to a large range of users, we are designed it to run through a web application that can be used on most mobile devices and computers.  We thought this project was cool because it was an opportunity to work toward bridging the communication barrier between the deaf and hearing-abled.
