• PROS:

  • Faster than Motion-Compensated Temporal Frame Interpolation (MCTI).
  • Avoids blocking artifacts resulting from MCTI and Fast MCTI (FMCTI).
  • Low complexity, easy to implement.
  • Slightly higher PSNR than MCTI and FMCTI.

• CONS: none

• Use subsampled images.

• Assume linear 2-D translation.

• Assign each pixel to one of four classes.

• Either take an average to interpolate a pixel, or copy pixel from previous or next frame.
