Please write a paragraph or two describing how the product solution you are designing will meet a specified need…
Part A: … with respect to considerations of public health, safety or welfare. Note: The term ‘health’ refers to a state of well-being of people in both a physiological and psychological sense. ‘Safety’ is the absence of hazards and/or physical harm to persons. The term ‘welfare’ relates to the provision of the basic needs of people.
From a public health, safety, or welfare standpoint, Bearbot will improve users’ mental state. The aromatherapy, night light option, and fidget mode provide a soothing experience that is able to assist during stressful times. The OLED screen will also act as a face for the robot – blinking and reacting to the inputs of the user, also improving the mental health of the user by acting as a companion and combating loneliness. Bearbot provides basic welfare that students and young adults will benefit from.

Part B: … with consideration of social factors. Social factors relate to extended social groups having distinctive cultural, social, political, and/or economic organizations. They have importance to how people relate to each other and organize around social interests.
From the perspective of social impact, Bearbot is designed to be an inclusive tool that supports not just neurotypical individuals, but also neurodivergent individuals who may have ADHD, anxiety, or other forms of neurodivergence. Many individuals find fidget devices, tactile stimulation, and interactive companionship soothing, and Bearbot integrates these elements seamlessly. By including a fidget mode and components, Bearbot ensures a personalized and accessible experience.
Beyond individual benefits, Bearbot also fosters a sense of connection in academic spaces such as libraries, dorm rooms, and study lounges, where students often struggle with isolation and academic stress. Its design encourages small social interactions, whether through shared use of its calming features, its reactive capabilities, or as a conversation starter among peers. By prioritizing accessibility, inclusivity, and emotional support, Bearbot aligns with broader social efforts to promote mental well-being and recognize the diverse ways people engage with their environments.

Part C: … with consideration of economic factors. Economic factors are those relating to the system of production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services.
From an economic perspective, Bearbot is positioned as an accessible and cost-effective solution. Unlike more expensive therapy solutions or subscription-based mental health apps, Bearbot offers a one-time purchase model, making it an affordable long-term investment for students. Additionally, its durable design reduces the need for frequent replacements, lowering long-term consumer costs. The production process prioritizes sustainable materials and efficient manufacturing to minimize expenses while maintaining high quality. By addressing both emotional well-being and affordability, Bearbot aligns with the economic considerations of students and their families while fostering a more productive and stress-free study experience.
