This week we have been focused on finalizing and polishing our demo. We finished construction of all the robot systems, including onboarding all sensors we want. We performed trials to collect data tha twill be used for our poster and final report. We also did some limit testing of the system, where we found any configurations of fire or environment that we performed poorly in. We found that our robot works at 13 feet, a goal we had, but we were unsure we could actually meet. However, we found with our regular sized testing fire, we were able to see the fire from 13 feet away. Once the robot locks onto the fire, it reliably puts out the fire (i.e. once it gets within 6 feet, we have >95% confidence that our trials will work). We also implemented stuff that we were going to use for the ECE demo day, such as a patrolling feature, and experimented on this. We were able to put out 3 consecutive fires fully autonomously, once we hti start, the robot was able to work alone. Looking forward, our plan is to complete the demos and write the final report. We will use the baseline we have for our midterm report, but need to significantly modify some sections.
