Nii-Okaitey’s Status Report for 2/11/23
This week I researched into USB cameras which can be used. Upon researching online it looks like we will need a camera which can work wit Linux in order to have it with with OpenCV. Additionally, I did not want to spend more than $100 on the camera, as we will need more budget to spend on the FPGA and software. That being said, I found one camera which fits this criteria: the ELP camera USB. Here is the amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/ELP-Fisheye-170degree-Infrared-Housing/dp/B07DWWSWNH/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=USB+webcam+Linux&qid=1676165739&s=pc&sr=1-3
My progress is on schedule. I plan to have all the components used for the hardware finalized before the Design Review, and having the camera solidified and ordered quickly is one of my top priorities. Finalizing the FPGA next week will put me in a great spot moving forward.
For next week, I hope to finalize what FPGA I want to use, as well as what USB cameras I want to use. With this knowledge I would like to have the parts ordered by the end of the week. Additionally, I would like to have a better grasp of the internal diagram of how the hardware portion is going to look. This should span from the camera getting the live data feed to the hardware sending the data to the cloud database.
