Last week our team hit MVP for our project. We performed initial rounds of verification testing for each subsystem and completed initial rounds of verification testing, which we presented at our final presentation on Monday. This week we wrapped up verification testing, began user validation, and continued to refine our subsystems based on that feedback.
Kevin focused on improving the processing of the accelerometer data so that we could incorporate translational degrees of freedom as controllable parameters on demo day. There is still work to do before it is ready, but we were able to develop an approach.
Tomas focused on completing verification testing of the CV subsystem by testing the system’s contact detection accuracy. The results were pretty high for all objects, though two of our objects missed our accuracy goal by 5%, due to them being identified as each other. We will test out more combinations of our objects before demo day to address this issue. Tomas also worked with Kevin to design a tray enclosure for the subsystem, which required getting trained on laser cutting at TechSpark.
Harry focused on implementing a more generalized object/degree of freedom MIDI mapping that will allow the user more granular control over adjusting parameters, should they want it.
Everybody contributed to the logistical planning for user validation, as well as conducting it in the lab. Overall we got positive feedback both during the in person sessions and in the follow up surveys, as well as critical suggestions for improving the project, the more manageable of which we plan to implement before demo day.
