For this week, I had two major tasks: preparing for the Design Review presentation slides and acquiring data from the physical sensors. Specifically for the presentation slides, I took part in making the slides for the glove hardware and sensor board implementation. Our team decided to use Arduino Micro for the sensor processing board, selected multiple force sensors with varying wire lengths for future testings, and placed an order for a new accelerometer/gyroscope breakout board. Based on this hardware design choice finalization, I came up with very detailed testing methods for the forces sensors and the breakout boards. By conducting multiple tests, we hope to select components that suit best to meet our use-case requirements. I also created the first draft graphical designs of our system’s headset and glove. The attached pictures below are the drawings for each component. In terms of acquiring data from the sensors, I made a demo code for the Arduino to run the sensors. The only concern with working with sensors is that sensors haven’t arrived yet. We hope to receive all our parts next week and hopefully acquire more meaningful data from our candidate sensors.
Everything is on track with our schedule except receiving the force sensors. We hope to get back on track as soon as the parts come in and test them as soon as possible. For next week, I will mostly focus on acquiring data from the accelerometer/gyroscope breakout board until the force sensors come in. Then, I will be working on making codes for processing our sensor data and look into ways in communicating with other Arduino boards.
