We plan to build a wearable glove with sensors that will allow a machine learning algorithm to recognize ASL signs and transcribe them quickly. Our glove will be lightweight and durable so users can sign with it for up to an hour. We will use finger position and amount of hand movement as inputs to the machine learning algorithm so it can distinguish similar signs from each other and ignore ones that aren’t in the training set. This project will help people learning ASL on their own to get feedback on the accuracy of their signs.
