Introduction and Project Summary

In the modern world, we have become reliant on smartphones to display crucial information like local weather data. However, what happens if you’re in a remote area with no cellular service or communication networks fail during natural disasters? In these situations, having an offline, reliable device that alerts people to severe weather and temperature changes is necessary.

Our project aims to create an offline, standalone device that receives live weather data from satellites. Weather satellites (like Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites) continuously transmit local weather reports in real-time over high-frequency bands. Our system uses specialized hardware (like an FPGA) to process these signals much faster than existing software-based solutions, allowing users to view local weather reports and forecasts in real time.
