Our project is centered around building a camera system for dash cams that may capture surrounding license plates by a camera system installed on a car, then run an image recognition program to identify the license plate number. This has use cases across policing, Amber Alerts, and stolen vehicles. The police may enter the license plates that they are tracking into a shared list, and the plate recognition system will compare the plate number it finds against that list. If it finds a license plate number on that list, it will record the location with GPS and report this information to the police.
