Team Status Report for 2/15

Overall, we have made a lot of progress in defining exactly how we would like to design our Bearbot both in hardware and software. Taylor made significant progress in creating 3D-printed prototypes of the Bearbot, which we plan to showcase during our Design Review Presentation. I have mainly been working on the presentation materials and refinement of the web-app design. During the mandoratory lab sessions, Taylor and I worked together on creating this user-flow diagram to make sure that we were on the same page for how the hardware components would coordinate with the software.

This week I focused on refining the wireframe we will have for our Web App, refining the system diagram, recreating our Gantt Chart into something more organized and readable, and defining our tech stack (which will be React frontend and Flask backend). For the wireframe, we thought that while we had the mindfulness aspects (aromatherapy and sound therapy), we realized that the only study component was the pomodoro timer. So we decided to add a study tracker aspect to the web-app to make the user a little more incentivized to study by needing a streak to keep. I also decided to add a motivational quotes portion to the web app, such that it looks like the Bearbot is giving encouraging words to a user during/before/after a studying session!

This week I focused on the chassis of the Bearbot and hunting down the specific components I would use to put into the Bearbot. The CAD was created in Fusion 360 and the 3D printers used were from the Robotics Club.

The Bearbot has been 3D printed at a smaller scale to see how it looks. Due to the near completion of the CAD, the bill of materials has been updated. We are also on schedule for the hardware side of the project.

MATERIALS WE CURRENTLY HAVE

Raspberry Pi 4 8 GB

MATERIALS THAT WE NEED TO ORDER

Stepper Motor

OLED Screen

Diffuser

Photoresistor (IDeATe or Robotics club)

Servos (IDeATe or Robotics club)

Rotary Encoder

Big Button

Small Buttons

Breadboard (IDeATe or Robotics club)

Speakers

Voltage Regulator

Rocker Switch

Battery Holder

For next week, the materials will be ordered and the CAD will be updated to include the base of the rotation and shelves to house the components. Hopefully I can 3D print a 1:1 scale model out of plastic and see how some of the components fit as they come in through the mail. For the light in the center, we will be taking inspiration from silicone night lights found on amazon what are activated with a touch sensor.
