Introduction and Project Summary

GreenBelt strives to integrate cutting-edge artificial intelligence with advanced mechanical waste sorting systems to successfully detect and separate moving recyclable material from general waste. We aim to develop a cohesive system with various mechanical, hardware, and software components to automatically detect and classify incoming recyclable waste accurately and efficiently. As AI-enhanced material recovery facilities are a recent innovation, the technology is relatively unexplored. GreenBelt aims to further experiment with the technology by presenting a more cost-effective solution while maintaining decent performance.
