Personal Weekly Update | Carolyn | 2/15
Accomplishments
- Design Presentation Refinement and Research (7hrs): This week I spent time refining and designing our presentation, ensuring it aligned with the provided guidelines and was well-supported by research, particularly on the software side. I focused on clearly articulating our technical choices and justifying them with relevant data and reasoning.
- App Development Research and Implementation (6hrs): I dedicated a chunk of my time to deepen my understanding of Swift and the overall app development workflow. Given my limited prior experience with mobile app development, I realize I will probably be spending more time doing research and development but I am not worried since my background in application development has made things easier. I have successfully integrated the app with Apple HealthKit and have begun experiment with accessing various biometric and activity data. My next goal is to pull data simultaneously from my Apple Watch and display it on the iPhone screen so we can utilize this functionality to assist the the algorithm development.
- Mandatory Lab (4hrs): I spent additional time researching Swift development and collaborating with my team on various design decisions. We also spoke with Professor Kim, who emphasize the importance of achieving and end-to-end solution as soon as possible. As a result, we updated our Gantt chart to reflect an earlier integration goal to achieve an MVP and mitigate potential issues with later-stage integration.
Progress
I am on track with my progress and this week’s priorities centered around learning Swift, familiarizing myself with different developer tools, and finalizing design slides and making key design decisions with my team.
Next Week’s Tasks and Goals
I will spend next week implementing the front end pages of the app, ensuring the app is at a stage so that we can begin integration as soon as possible. In addition, a large chunk of next week will be spent working on the design report, ensuring it addresses all technical and logistic elements and is cohesive. Lastly, I will spend next week providing feedback to my peers in mandatory lab.
