Accomplishments

Ethics Report (8 hrs):

We were given the task of reading through a few different texts on ethics in technology and answer several questions. Last semester, I had taken 18384: Ethics and Policy Issues in Computing, so this was a good recap of what we went in depth on. I found the assignment rather pedantic at times and wished we were given the opportunity to dedicate this week instead to focusing on our project rather than having to do the report. Nevertheless, an ethical analysis of our device is necessary to ensure we are not harming any users, especially at a critical time in our design process.

Mandatory Lab (4 hrs):

This week, we met with Professor Kim to discuss the progress of our prototype. He suggested we begin testing the device End to End as soon as possible. The only hold up with this is the fact we have replaced our pressure sensors to ones that are able to withstand higher newtons, and have only received them this Friday. The rest of our lab time was utilized to do a 15 minute meeting regarding the ethics assignment and discussing the schedule for the remainder of the semester.

Progress Status

I have been fully on schedule for the project so far. As soon as the device itself is operational, I will take over in order to do integration and testing.

Next Week’s Goals

Next week hopefully we will have all the sensors working and communicating with one another as all the components have finally been delivered. I would like to begin 3D printing the device housing and mapping out how it will be attached to the bicycle.
