Accomplishments

Design Presentation Refinement and Research (6hrs):

This was a bit of a lighter week, since my partner, Carolyn, was in charge of giving the Design presentation. Zoe and I spent the bulk of the weekend working in order to have a very strong presentation to make sure she could do the best she possibly could. Additionally, we met several times to go over our own areas within the project, so that everyone was on the same page as to the next steps of the design. As a team, we finalized the exact detection positions along with the 5 calibration poses.

Device Integration Design (3 hrs):

We finalized what the initial design for the device integration that will ideally occur after spring break. It will be attached to the bicycle via a polyester mesh material for the saddle, grip tape for the handlebars, and zip ties to a 3D printed housing for the both the camera and microcontroller. Another aspect I have been considering is cable management. As of now, I think offering the user various cable ties will be the best method for running them along the bike frame.

Mandatory Lab (3hrs): This week during the lab session, I was able to listen to all the other groups present their current designs. I am excited to see how they all turn out, and we got some really solid feedback in regards to our own presentation. I believe that our device will be better as a result.

Progress

I am on track with my progress, as most of my work will begin after all the components have arrived. With the upcoming design report due on 2/28, I will be spending the bulk of my time next week working on that to ensure it meets our team’s standards.

Next Week’s Tasks and Goals

I plan on working on the design report and helping my teammates in any way possible.
