This week was primarily focusing on the ethics assignment. From the ethics assignment, the main concern is the case of failure and the issue that we do not have a fail safe in hand. This brings about the question if the user still needs a fire extinguisher regardless on hand then as the backup or if we should implement a fail safe measure. Some points that could be made is to have some visual indicator if there is something of concern with the robot in general and when it is unable to extinguish, should it try a certain number of times? For example, if it fails the first time, does it restart for a certain number of seconds and then retry? Although, this does make the time restraint goal more pressing and hard to work with.
Along with the ethics assignment, I also constructed dimensions for the collimator since the distance between the robot and the fire is much more important than we first realized. After completing the ethics assignment, it brings concerns about fire safety and while we have the point of using steel to mitigate this risk, it still needs to be an optimal distance that it is able to not be exposed to the fire, yet be effective.
