Blackjack is a very popular card game played in casinos and between friends. A player can learn the basics of the game via memorization and practice. More advanced players, in the hopes of truly gaining an edge against a casino, learn to “count cards,” which is a more difficult skill to develop. To help users learn both the basic strategy of blackjack and also how to count cards, we wish to develop a product that detects the cards that are played, computes the best move, and then quizzes the user in real-time. The product will feature a camera that can take frequent snapshots of the table of cards, then the results of the processing are displayed on the screen. This blackjack buddy comes with several different modes of practice, each giving some level of feedback on areas of improvement.
