Navigating unfamiliar environments can offer challenges to the visually impaired. Using a chest-mounted wearable, we aim to address the challenges of avoiding obstacles as well as finding objects in a close space (i.e. chairs, benches). Our device will notify the user when they are approaching a nearby obstacle, and identify the object to provide guidance on how to proceed. Furthermore, the user will be able to request navigation to a specific object, such as the nearest bench. Our device will attempt to locate the object, then provide haptic feedback to navigate the user to the destination.
