Last week, I primarily worked on finalizing the design sketch, sourcing materials, defining connections for the raspberry pi, researching ROS, and the design review report. Although we discussed the design sketch and finalized the dimensions the previous week during the design review, a lot more thought was needed in terms of the actual construction of the robot. I was completed the final design and construction parts list for the robot, including all of the components for frame, base structure, and the roller. Ella and I also worked with an on-campus club to discuss inventory that we could use for the build (organizations tend to buy connectors and other items in bulk; resourcing extra parts significantly helped funding). I am currently working on a schematic to define connections between the raspberry pi and the Motors and sensors and ROS programs to use to simplify movement in robotics applications. My goals for next week include building the base and frame for the robot and adding initial connections between the pi and the Motors. I would also like to have the code for movement written and ready to go for testing by the end of next week. I am mostly on track with the Gantt chart. I had a few more tasks that were not included in the chart (ex. schematic and learning ROS), and I might be pushed back slightly in the timeline, primarily considering code for motion as I was not able to have that completed by this week. However, I will be working on it the next few days, parallel to build, so I hope to be back on track with the timeline.
