Introduction and Project Summary

IntelliStorage is a cutting-edge project designed to revolutionize household storage management. Our goal is to build a system that makes it easy to keep track of items in storage areas like wardrobes, pantries, and refrigerators. The design focuses on:

1. Item Detection and Management: Using barcode scanners and microcontrollers to track items as they are moved in and out of storage spaces. This helps in maintaining an accurate inventory and prevents overbuying or forgetting about stored items.

2. Expiration Date Tracking: A camera and database system will monitor expiration dates, ensuring that items are used before they go bad and reducing health risks associated with expired goods.

3. Daily Summaries and Consumption Suggestions: The system will provide users with daily summaries of items close to expiration and suggest ways to consume them, promoting efficient usage and minimizing waste.

4. Networking Capability: The use of Raspberry Pi enables the system to link multiple scanners, creating a comprehensive network across different storage spaces within a home.

5. Web App Integration (Stretch Goal): Aiming to develop a web app for remote storage monitoring, enhancing user convenience and experience.

6. Advanced Detection Features (Stretch Goal): Future enhancements may include identifying the relative position of items for more precise organization.

What makes IntelliStorage cool and unique is its comprehensive approach to storage management. It combines technology with practicality, ensuring that users can easily monitor and manage their household items without needing extensive technical knowledge. This project is not just about organization; it’s about bringing a new level of intelligence and efficiency to everyday living.
