With the increasing ability to build tiny wireless-connected IoT devices, there is massive potential for hostile actors to infringe on individual, corporate, and governmental privacy using hidden wireless devices such as microphones and cameras. We want to create a device that can detect and localize these hidden wireless devices. We will also exploit wireless protocols to obtain some information about the hidden device, such as manufacturer or device purpose. We will create a visual user-interface to display where any detected devices are located, relative to the user. Given the pervasiveness of WiFi for communications, our prototype/MVP will primarily focus on sniffing WiFi packets.
