Tianzhuo Li’s Status Report for 4/1

After discussing with the professor and the TA last week, we have installed cameras in the 1300 hallway that could look at the doors from different angles for testing purposes and in order to improve detection accuracy of our CV system. Currently we found that the angle mounted on the side of the wall across from the doors that it is monitoring performs significantly better than other methods with no observed misses during short test clips of 15 minutes that we took during the week. We are planning on meeting again as a team tomorrow to collect longer testing samples and explore other camera configurations. One promising idea to implement given our testing last week was to set up two cameras to monitor each side of the hallway. We plan on monitoring the big room in the hallway with two cameras set up on the walls across from the entrances to the room. This would allow us to get footage with less occlusion and overall better counting accuracy as the CV algorithm performs better on those camera angles comparing to our original setup with one camera looking down the entire hallway. Per TA’s suggestion, we are post processing collected video feed for testing and validation purposes, and I set up google collab to run post processing with video feeds uploaded to google drive. We are behind schedule for our entire project as the professor suggested we need significant changes to how we are doing our project as a whole. We will continue testing our new configurations and meet with the professor on Monday to decide our next steps moving forward.
