{"id":160,"date":"2023-03-02T18:25:04","date_gmt":"2023-03-02T18:25:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/course.ece.cmu.edu\/~ece500\/projects\/s23-teamb5\/?p=160"},"modified":"2023-03-12T04:28:22","modified_gmt":"2023-03-12T04:28:22","slug":"team-status-report-for-3-11-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/course.ece.cmu.edu\/~ece500\/projects\/s23-teamb5\/2023\/03\/02\/team-status-report-for-3-11-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"Team Status Report for 3\/11\/2023"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>Risks\n<ul>\n<li>With the complete PCB design, we removed some of the planned backup plans since they were not feasible. \u00a0The big one is that we were planning on leaving some extra DNP pads for more green photodiodes in case our photodiodes are not strong enough. \u00a0However, there is slightly more risk now since we had to remove this to make layout work.<\/li>\n<li>We noticed that the FPGA board lists some pins as clock pins. \u00a0The Datasheet does not describe what this means. \u00a0This is 2 pins from the FTDI chip and the 2 IR laser controlling pins. \u00a0If this ends up being an issue, we can accommodate it by using an interface with the FTDI chip that does not use those pins (fast serial) and by testing that the IR laser pins operate at high enough speed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Design Changes\n<ul>\n<li>Our PCB will be much smaller than the FPGA board rather than a copy of it. \u00a0This is because the parts fit on a much smaller footprint, and making it smaller makes buttons and LEDs on the FPGA board accessible, and it will be easier to make sure the boards fit together.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Updated Schedule\n<ul>\n<li>In terms of schedule, software developments (Roger) were impacted by inability to develop software for hardware that had not been fully finalized.
